La Boîte Concept :
a family business
Since the 1930’s, sound has been part of Timothée Cagniard’s family heritage. When he founded La Boîte Concept with his brother in Paris, he was unaware that he would find in the Basque Country assets which would convince him to locate the business there.
La Boîte Concept’s vocation is to create loudspeakers optimised for new media, such as computers, tablets and smartphones. “We take into account the product’s functionality and make it ergonomic so as to fit in with contemporary furniture. It was our collaboration with the designer Samuel Accoceberry which led us to the Basque Country. After having established a solid relationship with wood suppliers from the south and craftsmen from the north, we met François Applagnat from Invest French Basque Country. That was when we decided to relocate our R&D to Ustaritz in exchange for their support. It was logical for our laboratory to be close to our suppliers.
Invest French Basque Country played a major role in our development strategy : from introducing us to suppliers looking for local solutions to help with drafting the business plan, there was a very positive feeling, we felt supported. Today we highly value both our Basque partners’ flexibility and their responsiveness, not to forget the marketing impact on our clients of “assembled in the Basque Country.”
And with such positive results, Timothée Cagniard intends to stay close to Invest French Basque Country. He is now working with the International Aquitaine department, supported by Guillaume Dalies at the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce :
We have two major projects planned for the end of the year : the launch of a new flagship product with new functions and a new finish for which we received a grant thanks to Invest French Basque Country, and consolidating our export strategy. Exports already represent 1/3 of our turnover and should become our future source of growth.
