COMPOSITES SECTOR IN THE
Basque Country

COMPOSITES SECTOR
The composites sector is well represented in “New Aquitaine” and is growing rapidly in the fields of aeronautics, the car industry and sailing. The Basque Country has no shortage of skills and know-how in this sector, namely with :
Technocité and Compositadour, the technical and robotic platform dedicated to composite materials, located at Bayonne’s Technocité business park. Compositadour encourages collaboration and innovation between research, training and industry. Major investments have enabled equipment dedicated to the manufacture of the most advanced high-tech composite parts to be implemented (Coriolis robot and KUKA platform).
COMPANIES LIKE :
Pika, at Technocité, which has experienced rapid growth and whose clients are large aeronautical contractors: Dassault aviation, Astrium, Turbomeca, Daher-Socata.
Nimitech, which innovates and has around fifteen patents for the manufacture of composite parts for the ADS sector (Aeronautics, Defence & Space). By locating its business at Technocité, Nimitech benefits from the site’s technological environment and has just set up “Nimitech Innovation”, its thermoplastic matrix composite process development unit.

Invest Basque Country is a partner of JEC. JEC, the organiser of composites exhibitions, brings together the world composite industry and provides an insight into processes, new materials and composite solutions.
Compositadour was awarded the 2015 “JEC Award” in the “Aeronautics” category for its participation in the “Design and manufacture of a self-stiffening fuselage panel” project carried out in partnership with HEXCEL, STELIA and CORIOLIS COMPOSITES.
Compositadour provides training on the KUKA robot and is part of the company’s training catalogue.
